This has been a good week as far gaming goes thanks to the wonders of spare tax money and a little bit of extra cash from mandatory overtime at work.

Saturday I picked up MM2 and Faiths and Pantheons along with a present for [livejournal.com profile] taranos.

Sunday [livejournal.com profile] hamner, [livejournal.com profile] satharn and I went to Bookmans and after a bit of discussion about the possibility of /maybe/, someday, playing the game I picked up the player's guide for Rifts (I already had the first Atlantis and the Deities and Pantheons supplements from years ago.) Granted, I nearly died in our D&D campaign later that night as my Shadowdancing Rogue found out why it's never a good idea to get too close to a dracolitch, but I /didn't/ die so it's all good....

Monday I hit up Reaper Minis and Iron Winds Metals and picked up 20 minis for only $55 total counting shipping (discontinued minis are a great buy if you can get a hold of them at all!)

Wednesday I was back at Hat's and got a smoking deal on the Rifts GMG because someone had handled it with messy hands and the cover was a little damaged and picked up the England supplement as well. I also got to meet the manager of the Tucson Mall's Game Days as he came in to play L5R with Hat. Nice guy. I did mention I gamed with the "Dice Chicks" which he found amusing.... He wants to see the t-shirts. I wish he ran the Park Place Mall store.... I might actually enter the mall for something other than the movies if he was closer. I also got a sample deck for the new BSG collectible card game that will be coming out next month..... That should be a fun game once I get a chance to figure out the rules.

Today my Reaper order came in (Reaper is out of TX while Iron Winds is out of OH, I figure with ground shipping I'll get the other minis on Monday.) That gives me 13 of the 20 minis I bought. I also read this Pallidium Press release via [livejournal.com profile] filkertom and decided to pop by Hat's again a pick up a few more Rifts books since I couldn't justify to myself $50 for a art print, but I could justify a few more Rifts books since Hat has said he'll be doing an order on Monday to replace the books I've bought and Kevin would still get some money. (I've met Kevin Siembieda several times at Cons. He's always been a very nice gentleman, unlike so many of the other gaming folks I've met (don't get me started on Gary Gygax) and I would hate to see him loose the Robotech licence even if I'm probably never going to play the game again.)

But all in all it's been a good week and I've gotten a lot of neat stuff for less than $120. I'm definitely happy with this week's purchases.

You scored as Darius. You are Darius. And you rock my socks off. Following in Cyrus' wonderful footsteps, you continued to follow policies of complete religious and cultural tolerance. This way, the diverse peoples you ruled were able to live together under your Achaemenid empire. You did this with good organization, which further increased your success. Your empire was by far the greatest the world had ever seen during the 5th century BC.

This may have several of my friends quite upset with me, but I think it is a rather humourous take on the Star Wars universe from the point of view of the sceptic.

Guilt
What is yours?
Explain yourself
Culinary: Going out to eat I know I can make most meals cheaper than I can buy them out, but just not having to cook is enough to have me eating out at least once a week, even when the budget says we really shouldn't.
Literary: Mercedes Lackey She's pure mind candy- No real substance at all. The closest in fact I came to reading young adult. But I have almost every one of her books.
Audiovisual: The History/Discovery channels I watch very little TV, but I'll sometimes turn one of these on for background noise and then get sucked whatever is on.
Musical: Girl Scout camp songs Most are silly and childish (though not all!) but I'll catch myself humming or singing them more times than I want to count!
Celebrity: Deforest Kelly I came the closest I ever have to FanGirl SQUEEE when I met him in an elevator not long before he died. But while I managed not to pester him, I never got an autograph.

You Should Weigh 165

If you weigh less than this, you either have a fast metabolism or are about to gain weight.
If you weigh more than this, you may be losing a few pounds soon!

Seriously, while this is the weight that most people guess when looking at me in Mundanes (my SCA clothes have enough layers that I look closer to my true weight); I am about 40 pounds heavier than this meme thinks I am and my medications are not likely to allow me to drop more than 10 pounds anytime soon. :grynne:

Grin, This one actually does surprise me a little. I don't tend to play the mage (Isaac excepted) as much as the fighter or psyonic.

Mystic Theurge
40% Combativeness, 40% Sneakiness, 94% Intellect, 55% Spirituality
Brilliant and spiritual! You are a Mystic Theurge!
Score! You have a prestige class. A prestige class can only be taken after you’ve fulfilled certain requirements. This may mean that you’re an exceptionally talented person, but it probably doesn't.
The Mystic Theurge is a combination of a cleric and a mage. They can cast both arcane and divine spells, and are good at both, making them pretty terrifying on the battlefield. They have more raw spellpower than just about any other class.
You're both intelligent and faithful, but not violent or deceitful. I guess that makes you a pretty good person.

For those of you who were not part of the panicked "Help, the battery's dead!" and subsequent failed attempt at jumping, The van just decided "I have no juice. I'm not going to start. Period." [livejournal.com profile] hamner was kind enough to come out from clear across town to try to jump her, but to no avail.

Today [livejournal.com profile] nicodeamos gave me a list of things to try before he and [livejournal.com profile] domnall came over tommorow at an ungodly hour to try to fix her. One of them was clean the connectors. Which I probably still need to do....but when I was trying to tug off the black connector, having foolishly left my wench set in the house, the light under the hood came back on. Sure enough, she started right up. New battery cables are a /hell/ of a lot cheaper than some of the problems I was seeing and might be something that [livejournal.com profile] nicodeamos and I can install on our own verus taking the car to Arrows. And this looks to be a hairline break that only disconnects when the cable is at the wrong angle.... Meaning I can get to work tonight on my own.... YAY....
